Sundays for Dogs’ Small Bites Recipes: Big Benefits for Small Mouths

Small Bite recipe being offered to a dog

Our newest product update makes it easier than ever for smaller dogs to enjoy the enormous benefits of our human-grade, air-dried recipes.

We started Sundays for Dogs to make life easier for dog parents. And we’re always searching for new ways to deliver on that promise. Now, that includes the launch of our Small Bites recipes!

Our Small Bites recipes: Big intention for big personalities

We love all types of dog here at Sundays — and we want to ensure that our product lines are accessible and enjoyable to dogs of all shapes and sizes. We know how seriously dog parents of smaller breeds can take their care and nutrition — so we wanted to support that by making a version of our recipes that are even easier for small dogs to enjoy.

After conversations with our customers and in-house vet team, we saw an opportunity to create a version of our recipes that were a simpler fit for small mouths, require less chewing, and makes it easier for small dogs to receive all of the benefits our recipes offer. After months of developing and testing, Small Bites is finally here!

We designed this recipe with dogs 20 pounds and under at the front of our minds — but we know every dog is unique, and there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Just as some small dogs may prefer our existing recipes, many larger breeds could benefit from a smaller recipe. And as we’ll explain, our Small Bites can offer additional human convenience too.

A recipe made to Sundays for Dogs’ standards

The physical size of the food may be different, but it still meets all the quality and standards you’d expect from a Sundays recipe.

Every step of making our recipes, from the healthy and high-quality ingredients to the FDA-inspected kitchens we use, meets Human-Grade standards. To maximize nutritional benefits, safety, and convenience, we gently cook our food to eliminate potential pathogens found in raw ingredients (while avoiding the ultra-processing of kibble), then slowly air-dry it.

This means all of our recipes, both standard size and Small Bites, are packed with nutritional benefits that support the whole body. From better digestion and smaller poops, to a shiny coat and healthy joints, our Small Bites recipes now make it easier for small dogs to experience all the positives of a gently cooked, human-grade diet.

Small in size but big in taste

Whenever we design a new recipe, I always think about it as if I’m making it for my own dogs — just like at the start of the company. This means we extensively test our food — from a food safety standpoint but also from a taste and palatability point as well. And in an independent study, dogs chose Sundays over a popular brand of kibble 39-0.

By air-drying the food, we lock in the nutrition as well as the natural flavor of our high quality meats, veggies, and superfoods. These ingredients also nutritionally balance the food without need for any artificial vitamins or minerals, which are found in almost every other food on the market. We know how difficult feeding a picky eater can be, so we ensure every recipe is irresistible.

Small breed dogs can be especially prone to picky eating habits, and food format can be a factor. By creating a version of our delicious recipes that are easier for small mouths to consume and require less chewing, we’ve removed another potential reason for food aversion from their bowl.

Smaller bites, with even more convenience

Easier chewing isn’t the only unique benefit of our Small Bites recipes! While our standard air-dried recipes can be easily and cleanly broken up by hand into the piece sizes you desire, Small Bites can save you this job. Straight from the package, they’re great for use in slow feeders and other toys where many small morsels are preferred. And similarly, they’re effortless to take on the go and use as treats, or just a great travel food solution!

As with our standard recipes, we also provide personalized portion guidance, so you can be full of confidence that you’re feeding an amount of food to support your dog’s long term health and longevity

Lastly, every one of our existing recipes will be available in a Small Bites format this summer — Chicken, Turkey, Beef, and Fish. Since the recipe and formulation is identical, and only the size of the food differs, there’s no transition needed to switch between any of our recipes.
