How To Know If Chicken Is Right

Dogs managing their weight

Chicken's lower fat content makes it the right choice for dogs that need to lose weight or maintain a healthy body condition.

Senior or less active dogs

Lower fat and lean protein is easier on aging metabolisms and digestive systems, and supports healthy weight in dogs that have slowed down.

Dogs that need an immunity boost

Chicken is rich in selenium, zinc, and vitamins B6 and B12. Nutrients that support immune function and overall vitality.

Gentle on nutrients

Our low-and-slow air-drying process preserves the natural nutrition in every ingredient. No high-heat cooking that strips away what makes real food valuable.

Safe without synthetics

Air-drying eliminates dangerous pathogens without the synthetic preservatives most brands rely on. The result is safe, shelf-stable food with a clean ingredient list.

Our vet told us Charlie needed to lose 8 pounds. We switched to Chicken and adjusted his portions. Six months later he's at his target weight and more active than he's been in years.

I chose Chicken because of the lower fat content. My senior girl doesn't need a lot of calories but she needs great nutrition. This hits exactly the right balance.

The ingredient list is what got me. Chicken, chicken liver, egg, millet. I recognize everything. No weird stuff. My vet approved it immediately.

Dr Tory Waxman holding a dog

“I created Sundays because I was frustrated seeing dogs fed food I would never recommend as a vet. Every recipe starts with a question I ask myself: would I feed this to my own dog? The answer has to be yes before it goes in the bag.”

Questions About Chicken?

Is this recipe complete and balanced?

Yes. All four Sundays recipes are formulated to be complete and balanced according to AAFCO nutritional standards for all life stages, including growth of large size dogs (70 lbs. or more as an adult).

How is air-dried different from kibble or raw?

Air-drying uses gentle, low heat over time to remove moisture while preserving natural nutrients and flavor. Unlike kibble, there's no high-heat extrusion that degrades nutrition. Unlike raw or freeze-dried raw, our air-drying process includes a kill step that eliminates pathogens so there's no food safety risk and no refrigeration required.

Can I mix recipes?

Absolutely. Many Sundays families rotate between recipes or mix two together. There's no nutritional reason not to. All four recipes are complete and balanced on their own.

How long does it stay fresh?

Before opening: approximately 12 months. After opening: at least 6-8 weeks. No refrigeration needed.

Is chicken lower in calories than beef or turkey?

Chicken is a good choice for dogs that need to manage their weight or for less active dogs that don't need the higher energy density of Beef. That said, the right portion size matters more than the recipe choice. Use the feeding guide above as a starting point and adjust based on your dog's body condition.
