Where is Sundays’ dog food made?
We are proud to say that Sundays is made in the Midwest United States. That’s also the home base for our founding family and their pups. This allows us to prioritize ingredient quality, oversee production more closely, and provide more consistency in our batches.
How is the food made?
Sundays’ dog food is made with our blend of 100% human-grade ingredients. Once combined, we cook the food by slowly air-drying it at low temperatures. This method preserves the natural flavor, vitamins, and minerals of each real food ingredient.
Air-drying may be a more gentle cooking method, but the heat exposure still eliminates any potential bacteria from raw ingredients. This third-party-tested kill step adheres to USDA temperature guidelines and undergoes rigorous outside testing to ensure our food is both safe and nutritious.
Keep in mind that many freeze-dried or raw foods do not have a time-and-temperature lethality step in their preparation, which can present food safety issues for both humans and dogs.
Is Sundays’ dog food AAFCO-approved?
Great question! You should definitely be in the know about the AAFCO status of your dog’s diet.
AAFCO stands for the Association of American Feed Control Officials. They set the nutritional guidelines for pet food made in the United States. So, is Sundays’ dog food AAFCO-approved?
Absolutely! All of our air-dried dog food recipes are approved by AAFCO standards for complete and balanced nutrition.
Is Sundays for Dogs good for picky eaters?
One of the top reasons people switch to Sundays is because it’s the only food their dog will actually eat. So if your furry friend is skipping meals, consider switching to Sundays.
Why do picky eaters love Sundays? Since our food is slowly air-dried and meat-forward, it tends to be tastier, denser, and smellier (in a way that dogs love, of course). The consensus is that dogs think of it more like a bowl full of treats than a complete and balanced meal.
Is Sundays for Dogs grain-free?
No, Sundays’ dog food is not grain-free–but that’s intentional. We include a small portion of high-quality whole grains, including millet, oats, and quinoa, in our recipes.
The actual instance of grain allergies in dogs is <1%. Low-quality grain replacements (specifically legumes and potatoes) may also cause a fatal heart condition.
However, Sundays is a gluten-free dog food. Learn more about what that means here.
Is it difficult to switch my dog’s diet?
With Sundays, transitioning diets is easy breezy. We recommend slowly switching out bits of your dog’s current food with pieces of Sundays. After about 10 days, your pup will fully be transitioned to their new nutrient-dense diet.
Here’s our recommended day-by-day dog food transition plan:
- Days 1-3: 25% Sundays, 75% old food
- Days 4-6: 50% Sundays, 50% old food
- Days 7-9: 75% Sundays, 25% old food
- Day 10 (and beyond!): 100% Sundays
10 days may seem like a lot, but this is the standard recommendation for switching to any dog food. A slow, gentle transition will prevent stomach upset and ease your dog into their new favorite food.
